Football

Football, in most parts of the world, refers to a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net, primarily by kicking it. This widely popular sport is governed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and is played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. Matches are typically played in two halves, each lasting 45 minutes, with a 15-minute halftime interval.

In the United States and Canada, the term “football” refers to American football, a different sport that involves carrying, throwing, and kicking an oval-shaped ball to score points. However, globally, “football” is synonymous with what is known as “soccer” in North America.

Football is one of the most popular sports worldwide, characterized by its passionate fan base, prestigious competitions like the FIFA World Cup, and various professional leagues. The sport promotes teamwork, physical fitness, and strategy and is played both recreationally and at competitive levels.
