La Liga

La Liga, officially known as the Primera División, is the top professional football (soccer) division in Spain. It is organized by the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional (LNFP) and consists of 20 teams. Established in 1929, it is one of the premier leagues in the world, featuring renowned clubs such as FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atlético Madrid. La Liga operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Segunda División, the second tier of Spanish football. The league season typically runs from August to May, with each team playing 38 matches, facing each of the other teams twice, once at home and once away. La Liga is known for its high level of competition and has produced many of the world’s best players and teams, contributing significantly to the history and culture of football globally. In addition to the title of champion, teams compete for qualification to international tournaments such as the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League.
